ARMM DOST-SEI SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

           

             The DOST-ARMM through Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology National have three scholarships open yearly for the talented and deserving students every year in the form of competitive examination. These are the Philippine Science High School National Competitive examination(PSHS-NCE for Grade 6 students with good scholastic record, The DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Program for Fourth Year High School Students with good scholastic record preferably belongs to the top five percents among the graduating class of the schools, and the DOST-SEI Sophomore College Students who enrolled science, mathematics or engineering courses in both public and private institutions/colleges that  identified by DOST as Center of Excellent/Center of Development.

                For the   2014 Undergraduate Scholarship Examination Program, Out of 21,388 student applicants nationwide, there were only 3,982 student applicants have passed/qualified for scholarship program. In ARMM region, out of 1,056 student applicants, there were 53 student applicants have passed which considered as first time happened in the ARMM region compared for the past several years. It identified the number of passers/qualifiers per province in ARMM as follows: Basilan (7 qualifiers), Lanao del Sur (18 qualifiers), Maguindanao(12 qualifiers), Sulu(8 qualifiers), and Tawi-Tawi(8 qualifiers).

                The numbers of passers obtained by the region is the tantamount of the initiative of the Regional secretary MYRA M. ALIH the conduct of SYENSIYA-bilidad Review and Enrichment Program for the identified student applicants of the said scholarship in the five provinces of ARMM which considered as first time happened in the region.

ACTION TAKEN BEFORE THE CONDUCT OF EXAMINATION

  1. Coordinated with DEPED, BPI and the PSTD’s for the promotion and dissemination of application forms.
  2. Received and assisted the application forms
  3. Conducted SYENSIYA-bilidad Enrichment program by province.
  4. Prepared venue, list of examinees per Test Center and corresponding schedule and information materials that guided the examinees.
  5. Assigned proctors and other support staffs during the examination.
  6. Coordinated with DEPED, BPI and the PSTD’s for promotion and information the passers/qualifiers.
  7. Tarpaulin hung at ORG Quadrangle and at Five Provincial Science and Technology Offices for information and dissemination.
  8. Conducted an Orientation and Contract Signing to the Passers/Qualifiers in every province in the region.
  9. Endorsed the Scholars to enroll to the DOST priority courses at institutions/universities as Center of Excellent/center of Development identified by DOST-SEI.

ACTION TAKEN AFTER THE RESULT OF EXAMINATION

  1. Coordinated with DEPED, BPI and the PSTD’s for promotion and information the passers/qualifiers.
  2. Tarpaulin hung at ORG Quadrangle and at Five Provincial Science and Technology Offices for information and dissemination.
  3. Conducted an Orientation and Contract Signing to the Passers/Qualifiers in every province in the region.
  4. Endorsed the Scholars to enroll to the DOST priority courses at institutions/universities as Center of Excellent/center of Development identified by DOST-SEI.
